HDMI Matrix 4X4 issue.

We've never had an issue with it until yesterday and today and based on all of my research on here it seems to be the power supply. It keeps loosing the picture and the lights on the Matrix box are flickering from time to time. I knew that the power supply was generally the problem in most cases from reading the posts on here so I have a spare with me. Is it easy to change because it certainly doesn't look it based on everything seeing behind the unit. Can someone walk me through it because my 6yr old is going to lose his mind if he can't watch any TV the whole week that we're here at the campground. Thanks guys, signed unhappy dad of an autistic 6yr old that wants to watch his shows.

The power supply just plugs into the back of the unit. Be careful when pulling the matrix out from its mounting. Whole mess of wires plugged into the back. Spider web of wires! Where did you purchase the power supply? I pulled mine out and broke a wire. Fixed it but would like a spare.

I bought right from Pace Electronics who makes the Matrix unit. I did some research right after we bought the Meridian last yr and a ton of people had this power supply go so I called them and purchased a spare just in case. I started to get into this morning but it's a maze of wires back there and I was only comfortable sliding the matrix out about halfway because of those wires. I can see the power supply wire attached to the back of it but I lose it when it heads to the right and into the mess of wires for Winegard and DTV and all of the other stuff back there. I honestly thought it would be easier because Jeff at Pace said he was very familiar with our coach and how its set up and he said the power supply would plugged into a power strip behind all of the electronics and I can't seem to follow it to any power strip.

If I recall, the power supply for the matrix in my 14 Journey was in the right side of the shallow compartment above the entrance door, behind the cover with 2 twist open latches. Plugged in to a 110 outlet there and the power supply cord snaked up behind and into the electronics cabinet above the copilot seat.

Not so fast... I had the exact same issues as you this past Summer. Emailed Pace and spoke to their "mobile support engineer". He said I can send you a power supply but I'd guess it's the entire Matrix.

So, I ordered the Matrix and it was $200. Winnebago sells it for $537. Of course it came with a new power supply. So, before installing the new Matrix box i changed out the power supply. Nope. No joy.

So, I installed the new Matrix Box - again, no joy.

The Pace support guy said to take a receiver from another TV that is working and try that in the location that's not working. Sure enough it was the receiver - which is actually called a Balun. I sent back the Matrix (and power supply) and ordered a new Balun and now it works.

See, the Maxrix is connected to your sources via HDMI, then via Cat 6 Ethernet cables to the balun at each TV location. Then by HDMI from the balun to the TV. If the balun goes bad - and he said they do and sometimes an entire batch can go bad in close order - the connection between the Matrix and the balun is broken and that's why the TV flashes and goes all green screen and the lights don't light up on the Matrix.

Your source device does a handshake with the TV via the HDMI and if anything interferes with that then you can have this or HDCP errors on the TV.

Here's the email address of the Pace guy you might want to contact him:

Jeff@paceintl.com
Jeff Gwinell
He's available 8am 5pm Central Time, Monday Friday. Call 1-800-444-7223 and ask for Jeff.

A new HDMI 4x4 matrix switch power supply is: $10 Part: CT4X44V2-PS

A replacement HDMI 4x4 matrix switch is: $200 (includes power supply with accessories). Part: CT4X44V2-SWITCH

A replacement Balun receiver is: $60 Part: CT4X44V2-BALUN

OP said he already had a spare power supply so he should be able to check to see if that's what's causing his problem...once he locates the old one and switches them out.

So I finally got into it this morning. The Matrix power supply definitely runs from the cabinet that houses all the Matrix, DTV, Winegard and Blu Ray boxes to the little compartment to the right of it with the 2 half turn wing nut things. What a damn mess of wires in there too! I pulled them all out and stream lined and zip tied as many as possible to clean up the mess or should I say MAZE of wires in there. It's been working perfect since this morning with no picture drop outs and no more blinking/fading lights on the front of the Matrix unit so I think we're all good here. Thanks for quick responses and help guys :-)

Day 2 without a picture dropout so I'm fairly certain that the power supply was the culprit. :-)
