Does anyone know if there is heat in the bay that holds the 50 amp power cord in a 2011/12 Vista 35F. The main water tank drain valve is in there for some reason instead of the bay with all of the other water stuff. Also, how cold can it be outside while driving for the bay heat to keep everything down there from freezing?

the walls in my electrical bay were not sealed well by winnebago. i used rattle can foaming insulation to seal the compartment. i don't have any water stuff in that compartment.
i installed a wired inside-outside temp gauge in my water service compartment to monitor temps. i should have used a wireless system.
i use a trouble light with a 60-100w bulb when the outside temperature is forecast to be below freezing.
i installed wired gauges in my other compartments also and found that they stay warm enough with the water heater running on the electric element.

Nick, Although you may have a heat pump to keep comfortable inside the coach none of that heat goes into the sub loor compartments. The heat pump will also not work at temps below 40 degrees most of the time.

Your Winnebago coach has basement vents that will feed hot air from your LP furnace into critical areas that should keep the important stuff from freezing. Make sure that any openings to the outside are closed and that the bay doors are closed as well. You may want to stuff some type of insulating materials like rags between the compartment floor and the hoses to close all the spaces.

Good luck!

Driving or not, water still freezes at 32F. You won't get any heat into the bay unless you intend to drive with the gas furnace heat on. The Vista does not have an enclosed bottom so I am sort of skeptical about just how much cold resistance the bays really have.
