Heater A/C fan control only works to 2 of 3 settings

My 2001 Winnebago Journey 34 DL heater and A/C fan control knob can be switched from off to 1 to 2 to 3. Three being high speed. However it does not work on the first speed, the low speed. I am assuming it is the fan control switch and attempted to replace it. However, the only switch I can buy has a shaft that the knob attaches that is too short. I have searched the internet and can only find a switch with the short shaft. The shaft going from the switch to the control knob is about 3/4 inch long. All the replacement switch have a shaft about 1/2 inch long. This is too short to fit through the dash on my motorhome. Any ideas on where to find this? BTW, I have even researched the patent number and it now shows the shorter shaft.

Maybe it's just a bad blower resistor?

Mine doesn't work on low either, however the 3-switch panel screws onto the exterior of the dash.
Where did you find that replacement switch??

I found the switch several places, but here is one. Also, Advance Auto ordered it same day delivery.

Thanks Dan, however that is not like mine, it is a 3-gang switch;1= fan, 2=heat/cool reostat, 3=vent/ heat/cool-including normal and max settings/defrost/floor/dash/defrost.

Ray, I think you are right. I replaced the switch and it still does not work on the low speed. Now, I need to find where that resistor is located.
Thanks ... Dan

I have not yet found where this resistor might be located on my Winnebago Journey. Any one with ideas?

Not exactly .... but it is usually in a hole in the blower plenum/housing .... the resistors are in the airstream of the blower motor for cooling. In a car it is typically behind the glovebox. BTW, check it carefully for damage before you leave the store .... the packaging is really bad and the resistors get broken or shorted.

check to make the coils are not touching each other or they will defeat the purpose of being there. you can separate the windings with a small screw driver

I found the resistor. Hopefully, I reposted pictures of the location... but, it is in the front of the MH on the passenger side. You access it by lifting the hatch for the generator and it FAR to the left.
