Heater core leaking - 2001 Journey DL (repair cost?)

My heater core is leaking antifreeze out the drain tube and appears other areas (but not where hoses go in).

Iíve seen other threads of DIY replacement, but I think this is beyond my skill level and forum instructions that Iíve seen are not detailed enough. I would need detailed step by step YouTube of everything from removing front shroud to getting air bubbles out at end if I would even attempt.

Has anyone had a shop repair / replace your heater core? If so, what did they charge? Iím in Seattle area and need heater in winter, plus maintain value if I ever resell.

Any feedback is appreciated.
Jim

Hi Jim, I had to do my heater core a couple years back. Project seemed intimidating.. My son in law tackled it with the use of info on line. Have to tilt the front end fibreglass out but remains attached, pivots on two bolts at the frame. Anyway, took my son in law bout 6 hours to re and re.. No issues... I would hope an RV dealer would take the job, its not that bad...If they took much more than 8 or quoted more than 8 I would b suspect..

Thanks (Pete?), I will keep your hours estimate in mind. Poulsbo RV recommended a truck specialty shop, Iím taking it there tomorrow. My driveway is not very conducive to working on front end, but do you by chance remember which online instructions your son in law followed?

Sorry for the delayed response we have been on the road.. I don't remember which online video we watched for the repair but it was very clear and offered step by step instructions on the repair and the tilting of the front cap.. Sorry I could be of more help..Good luck with the repair!
