Help 99 Itasac 35U Sunflyer Power cord?

Hi I just bought a motor home from bank repo people, and I called to ask them to plug in the mh to charge the battery's. He called me back and said the power cord is missing. He said that it can be plugged in the mh just like pluging it to the power box? So I need to buy one. Go to lowe's to make one? How long is it? 30 or 50 amp? What ends? I'm leaving thursday, Need help fast. Thanks

I have the Winnebago 35U which should be really close to yours. My power cord is NOT a simple extension. It is attached to the electrical interface box. Mine is 30 amp although there was an option for 50 amp. Very odd that it should be missing.

You might be able to do a rush order but Thursday is close. You might have to do without AC power and charge the batteries from the engine or generator. One hopes the batteries are in decent shape but it seems unlikely.

Hi Lake and Welcome to the Forums.

You can pick up a new cable at any RV supply shop. OR you can pick up an RV "extension" cable (@ WallyMart) and cut off the female end. However, it will need to be physically connected to the junction box on the motorhome (inside one of the basement compartments most likely). I realize you are not where the motorhome is now so if you want to handle this yourself you'll need to wait untill you get to where the RV is. Next you'll have to do some checking to see if it is 30 or 50 amp. If the cable was just chopped off (probably since it was stolen) the end should still visible sticking out of the junction box, count the number of wires. 3 wires is 30 amp; 4 wires is 50 amp. Otherwise take cover off the junction box and count the connections. If none of this make much sense, then you'll need a friend who is familiar with electrical wiring.

My Mom's 1999 Adventurer 35C has the optional 50 amp service. It has a removable 50 amp cord. Her's looks like this:



I would sure think the seller could send you a quick picture of what your 35U looks like.

The yellow adapter has a 50 amp Marinco twist lock on one end and a 30 amp RV male plug on the other. I don't think he 50 amp cord is in the compartment in that picture.

Thank so much, Tim that is it. Nick I will bring my electric kit along, like to get the right one from a rv place, but I can make anything work. I will be in Dallas to pick it up and found a rv camp ground 20 miles away so I can check it all out. Alan

I went out and looked at Mom's. The 50 amp cord is there. It's the one coiled up and hanging. You can just see it's yellow twist lock end behind the yellow adapter cord.

I suggest you take your jumper cables with you.

I think you will find 3 batteries underneath the steps ... one engine battery and two house batteries ... the engine battery should be 12 volts ... the house batteries may either be 2 12volts batteries in parallel {this is how it was configured upon delivery} or 2 6 volt batteries in series {the former owner may have changed this}...

Make sure that you jumper to the single 12 volt battery to start the engine
