Help Electrical problem with 2001 35ft adventurer

Please see my detailed write up under "technical problems" on this site. We dont haver any power on the entire pass side including the recp for the microwave-- howerver when we have the generator on, all the recp. have power, microwave works and the "power mgmt" panel shows the digital read outs. Thanks

Check the transfer switch. This switch transfer power from the Generator to shore power. I have a 2000 35U that the transfer switch had to be replaced. I would locate the switch and remove and inspect the contacts.

Try hitting the front cover of the transfer case with the palm of your hand a couple of times,just hard enough to jar it. This might allow the switches to make contact. I had the reverse problem of yours. Generator wouldn't put out electricity. Dealer rapped front cover of transfer switch and it started working. They then installed another transfer switch.

I know this will sound stupit to those with knowledge but is the "transfer case" the metal cover box in the electrical compartment where the power cord is connected. Real RVer Iam!

Yep, that's it. Should be 3 large cables connected to it - the power cord, and power cable from the generator, and the output cable to your breaker box. The problem must be in that area somewhere because from the transfer switch on in it doesn't matter where the power came from - power cord or gennie.

If banging on the switch doesn't help, you might try checking the power cord connection inside the transfer switch. Just be sure the power cord is unplugged, generator is off, and if you have an inverter, turn it off too.

The following is the link for the wiring diagram for a 2002 35u. Winnebago doesn't show the 2001, but I bet it is close. You didn't mention whether you had 30 or 50 amp service, but both diagrams are on the page. 50 amp is the bottom diagram.

With the diagram, you can follow the circuits that don't work and also see the proper wiring of the transfer switch to do the diagnosis.

Thanks for all the replys-- not being a technical person I trried the approach Tom gave me re "hitting the transfer casewith my hand", well that did it. Now the question is , should I open the case and spray some cleaner on the contacts- or is this something that will need to be replaced? I am always telling people how helpful this site is and thuis is another examble of how people help others--Thanks again!!!
