We are stuck in Van Horn, Tx with a slideout that won't come in. Have tried it manually with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Call Winnebago at 800-537-1885 and and for a service tech. They are most often very helpful.

Hi cfing,

I have your sister ship, 2008 Winnebago Destination, so I'm assuming that you have the same mechanisms in yours that I have, and the motors are electric. If not, then ignore this.

I had the same problem with my big slide. It would start to come in and then stop or jam. It is also possible to just have no indication of movement at all. The problem with mine were the slide locks. There is a field fix posted on the Kwikee/PowerGear web site, and somewhere on this forum I have posted that information. I'll see if I can find the link and come back and post it.

Generally, the slide lock motor is binding against the screw on the motor mount. The field fix says how to fix it. In the mean time if you just "have" to get the slide in, take down the plastic box cover over the slide lock. It should be in a cabinet on the upper surface. Once the plastic is down you will see the slide lock motor. There will be a shaft coming out of the motor. Take a pair of pliers and grip the shaft and rock the heck out of it while your partner or helper tries to bring the slide in. It should be enough to have the slide move. If it stops again, immediately stop bringing the slide in and grasp the shaft again and repeat the procedure. If you have two locking mechanisms it should not be both failing at the same time, so move to the other one and repeat the process to see if that is the culprit. If you get the slide in, perform, or have performed, the field fix. This is a known problem with the slide locks on that generation MH by Winnebago. There never was a recall on it, just the Power Gear web site information.

Please let us know what you find.

Happy trails, and good luck.

p.s., It was the long, over 20Ft slide on our MH that was the problem. It would start to come in then jam. The mobile tech that showed up did not know what the problem was, so he went outside and put is back against the slide, heaved whil I ran the control and the slide came in. You may be able to get some of your fellow camground members to assist you to try that method.

The manual shows how to bring in the slides manually, but it requires two people with 3/4 inch wrenches and the slides sides have to come in simultaneously with no more than a two inch lag for either end of the slide on a two motor system.

I found the reference. Just search on 82-S0504 that is the techdoc from PowerGear/Kwikee. It't comes up as a pdf link and clicking on it will open the pdf file.

Just a couple thoughts. Is the coach level? It might be racked and is binding. You might have to play with the jacks a bit. Also is the engine running?
