Herky Jerky Steps

My main engine battery was going bad and didn't have enough power to operate the retractable steps. Long story short - put in a new battery but steps do not retract correctly - they start to go in and then stop and go and stop and go but will not go in.

Talked to my tech this morn and he suggested a good lube job should do the trick. Haven't been able to do that yet because it's frickin' pouring rain - first day of vacation in St. Petersburg.

Any help out there?

My steps would not retract fully, unless I "helped" them by hand. In addition to lubing, I drilled a hole in the frame & put the ground wire on a new nut/bolt in that hole. Prior to drilling the new hole, I cleaned up the original nut/bolt but the wire lead was too corroded. So had to cut the wire back, put on a new lead, then attached it to new nut/bolt on frame. Steps now retract fully.

Found the culprit - gears on the motor were worn out to a point they wouldn't work anymore - new one coming today.
