Hey-lam got a new 27b tribute-winnie

We picked up a new 2015 27b Tribute Itasca/Winnabago...
29'4'' is the "shoe box size" 178'' wheel base..
it powered by the only available ,FORD F53, V-10..
I've had quite a few of these chassis... under powered so banks power kit is in the near future...
as with anything I get ..."MODS" will be done..
but... first things first...

I usually spend the day loading the MH..this over here... no wait that has to go here....
While doing so, I see the mods and adds I wanna do

once loaded, its off to the truck stop to get weighed..

the gross vec. weight (GVW) for the MH is 7000 frt. and 11000 rear, as you can see full of everything we are well under that amount..

the motor home came with window pull down shades...nice for night time... but we wanted a little more privacy during the day....
so I bought and installed some cute little shear curtains
happy wife... happy life

also changed out the car hart denim bed spread for some thing a little more warm and fuzzy

The install went pretty smooth and simple..just a few tools and screws ...

I had the shelf in the garage.. it came out of our 26 he vista...

I drilled holes through the shelf in the same pattern as the base plate

My wife and I are new to rving, and we bought a 2015 Winnebago tribute a month ago (ford chassis, gas). We arrived at Tyler state park on Christmas day and decided to move sites the next day. Our coach started immediately, ran for about 5 seconds, and died. It hasn't started since. We heard to look for an inertia switch, but then read this chassis doesn't have one. We've checked the fuses we can find, and all seem well. We are at a loss. It sounds like the engine isn't getting gas. If we don't figure this out, we will have to be towed on Friday and rent a car to drive back to Houston. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

What are the Symptoms?

Does it crank, turn over briskly, but never start?

Or does it do nothing when you turn the key, make no sounds at all..

Fuel or Spark

So the fact that it is turning over briskly eliminates a lot of problems.

Now you just need fuel and a spark, so here's a few checks for those problems:

NO START TEST 1 (non-risky)

Note: this applies to fuel injected gasoline engines. Most all engines made after 1990 are fuel injected.

Get a friend to sit in the driver's seat. Go to the gas filler cap. Remove the cap and listen to the open gas filler pipe. Have the friend turn the ignition switch on, but don't turn the engine over ( the rrrrrr sound, like you were trying to start the engine ). You should hear a whirring sound from the gas tank for a few seconds, then it should stop. This is the electric fuel pump running. No whirring sound, no running fuel pump, no start! This means your fuel pump is either bad, or the relay powering it is bad, or the computer which runs the relay is bad, etc. There are some vehicles with electric pumps where the pump only runs when the engine is being turned over by the starter. Have your assistant turn the engine over and listen again. If there's still no "whirring" sound, there's no pump action.

See my article on FUEL PUMPS for more fuel related no start information.

NO START TEST 2

Remove a spark plug wire. Connect a spark tester - available from the auto parts store for cheap - and see if you have a spark.
No spark can be from a bad coil, rotor, distributor cap , electronic ignition module, pickup coil assy., or wiring defect.

I am wondering if you don't have full tow and Ford warrantee on this relatively new rig....

Maybe call Ford?

We've checked for a sound of the fuel pump and hear nothing. We've called Firs. They are going to tie it Friday to the nearest firs dealer to us. Unfortunately, we are 4.5 hours from home, so we have to rent a car (not covered?? Insane, the rig is a month old for crying out loud), drive back to houston, then drive back the 4.5 hours when it's fixed and the 4.5 hours home again!

Brave 27b

2ForceFull, I am in the process of trading for a 2015 Brave 27b. This is my 3rd Class A motorhome and was very impressed with your post on the modifications you made on your new Brave.
I would appreciate if you have any suggestions for me that I should have the dealer due or include during my negotiations. Things you would ask for if you had to do over.
Would also be interested in your comments about driving your new Brave, ie. handling, power, MPG, etc.
Thanks in advance

Tom
