Hole in Roof 07 Voyage

We had a branch from a Redwood Tree fall on our 2007 Winnebago Voyage. It made a small hole about the size of a half dollar in the fiberglass roof. The hole is about one half inch deep at the deepest point.

My thought is to use a fiberglass repair kit to repair the hole using the glass mat and resin to fill and seal the hole.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate hearing them.

If it were me that's exactly what I would do and then apply
Advanced RV EPDM Roof Sealant

Forget the EPDM stuff ...this is a fiberglass roof. A good fiberglass repair should do the job.

Jim, sounds like you were lucky. About 30 years ago while staying in a cabin in Yosemite a ranger told us sometime previously a large limb had fallen off a giant Redwood, went through the roof of a cabin, and took the bath tub like 6 feet into the ground. The wife was ready to go to town for the night.

Jim, if you have Comprensive coverage on your m/home, it should carry a smaller deductible than collision. @ one time, GM parts departments carried a FIBERGLASS REPAIR KIT, used to repair the early Blazer fiberglass roof. It had all the mat, resin, hardner and things needed for the correct repair, which @ that time was around $60.00.
Check your deductible, your cost may less than what a kit would cost today, that way you could have it repaired and painted properly. JMHO...............Good luck,Happy trails and Travel safe.

duct tape or eternabond will seal the water out until you can do a proper fiberglass repair. eternabond sticks very well but can be removed with a heat gun. check walmart for a small repair kit.

I purchased a fiberglass repair kit for under $20 and fixed the hole. The job took less than 30 minutes and was very easy to do. Unless you are on the roof you cannot see the repaired area, so I am not concerned about painting the spot.

I will say that I was amazed that the damage was only a small hole. There was a very loud bang both inside and outside the motorhome when the branch hit.
Apparently Winnebago builds a very strong roof!
