(I'm going to also post this in the rv.net class A forum also)

Our plan is to fulltime in a 40AD for a couple of years (or until it isn't fun anymore.) The factory weight stickers we have looked at show a CCC of around 2600# in a well equipped model (loaded) with the ISL engine.

Questions:

- is the Winney weight sticker actual measured weight, or calculated based on historical factory production data? (I suspect the latter)

- for those who have weighed their 40AD, what were the wheel or axle weights?

- are you a fulltimer, part-timer, or vacationer?

- do you have the Cat or ISL engine?

When we went cruising in our sailboat a few years ago, it was amazing how the waterline changed after we loaded months worth of canned meat, spare parts, extra jugs of fuel, etc. I'm a little concerned that the coach has more storage space than I can safely load and carry.

Mucho thanks,

John

Just keep track of your weight. We get ours weighted at the local grain elevator for $1.00 which is a good deal. Yes, you can easily get too much in the storage areas available.

We have been taking stuff out after each trip. You do not need as much as you think.

No we do not full time. However, we go for 2 to 3 months as a time.

John, my 39Qd weighs 8630 front/16170 rear =24700 total w Cat engine.

Winnie rating= gvwr 27,910
unloaded weight 23039
sleeping capacity weight rating 770
CCC = 3170,
gross combinded weight rating 37910
factory installed options 546
Remember when loading your MOHO you don't have to load it like a sailboat. There are plenty of places to get what you need while on the road. Take a 3/4 day supply and buy they rest.
Now if you are gonna get out in the boonies and stay a month then you might have to make different plans. But you can still only carry the extra weight from the last store to you destination. At sea on a sailboat the last store is the last dock. Not so in a MOHO.
With your A D you should have plenty of CCC. When the family (wife and two dogs) have everything on the MOHO needed for a week there are still many empty spaces and drawers. A 3170 lb more or less CCC is a lotta stuff. You are right it does have more space than you need and if you fill all the spaces then you have way more stuff on the Moho than you need. IMHO Good Miles and

With my 40AD fully loaded for extended trip; full fuel, full water, full propane and extra stuff to deliver to kids (holding tanks empty):
Front: Both sides 5820
Rear: L=8220 R=8920
That leaves me with 2400 pounds under the maximum. Due to the circumstances of that trip I'll never be that heavy again so I'm confident that I'll never reach or exceed my capacity.
I love my Vectra......
