There are round vents on the lower walls near the bathroom and back bedroom. When I turn the heat pump on via the thermostat in the bedroom, cold air blows through these vents. When I turn on the electric heat via the True-Air system, heat comes out of the floor and ceiling vents. The outdoor temperature is above 36 degrees.
I only want to use the heat pump and not the whole house system. I've checked all the fuses and circuit breakers and nothing has tripped.
Is there something more I should be doing?
Thanks

Hi Keith,

The round vents in the bath and bedroom wall are only for the propane bed/bath furnace which is controlled by its own thermostat. You might be having a draft coming in through the fresh air supply for the furnace.

The heat pump will probably not work at 36 degrees - depends on the humidity we have discovered. Sometimes we will have marginal operation at 36 degrees, sometimes it won't work at 42 degrees period. It sounds like it is too cold for the heat pump and the controller is automatically starting the main propane furnace.

Another reason the propane furnace might have started is if the difference between set temperature and room temperature is more than five degrees.

Welcome to the forum! Nice coach you have there...

Thanks John,
I'll try the propane heat this weekend to test it out.
Other than that the coach is humming merrily along. We haven't done anything like you and Jane, but we get to go out every weekend and whoop it up.

You're correct John,
The propane heat comes from the round vents in the rear of the coach.
It sure warms up a lot quicker than the electric.
