well....... some time ago, I posted a request for a horn wiring circuit on a workhorse.
we finally got around to searching out why both horns ( stock and my beloved HADLEY's ) were blowing fuses.........lo and behold
First we d/c'd the hadleys from the circuit. then we started on the stock horns,, the "aftermarket install of the HADLEYS" by Winnebago leaves a lot to be desired thats for sure....bare splices to the stock horns and the most Rube Goldberg connection to the fuse panel I have ever seen for the hadleys seem to be part of the culprit. we had those working in short order..
then... after busting a few knuckles... & entertaining the neighbors with my " french". we were able to FINALLY remove the air compressor,,,,,,, ok, JUST HOW DID THEY GET THAT IN THERE???

We called Hadley in the meantime , wonderful service the \tech talked me through all potential problems , one of which we discovered the compressor was shot.. possibly when a horn blows continusouly as in the time the solenoid froze in heavy traffic coming through CT at 0 degrees," Hi, how are ya, yeah , I know my horn is blowing ,!" unfortunatly that solenoid and tank components are the most foward item in the engine compartment,,, right behind the grill
well we have new compressor on the way, we are using wire in side corrugated tubing and we are trying to come up with some type of shield for the solenoid and tank as well as better fuse box connections....any suggestions?
SO.
whats my point .......always check anything somebody else puts in your coach!

Wally;
I had similar problems with my Hadley air horns. Some times the horn would not blow and some times the horn kept blowing. A closer inspection found a sticking air valve. Hadley on their web site has info for cleaning the valve. The main problems seems to be a lack of a drain valve on the air tank. All air compressors must have water accumulation in the tank drained off or water gets into the lines. I removed my tank and found it 1/4 full of rust and crud. The valve and seat were full of crud as well. I called Hadley and asked why they would manufacture an air tank with out a drain and their answer was that the box builders locate them in various positions and locations. Hadley would not know where to locate a valve and many times an owner would not be able to get it.

Bottom line is I believe those of us with electric Hadley Air Pumps (gas engines) will all at some time have valve problems.
