welcome to irv2.

what kinda rv and water heater do you have?

you can add your rv information to your signature block.
there are probably 2 check valves on the back side of your water heater. these can stick or clog up. sometimes they are very difficult to reach. some folks remove them and take the innards out and reinstall them. the check valves are primarily to keep anti freeze out of the water heater during winterizing.
the part numbers of the camco brass replacement check valves are: male end: 882032130 female end: 23303. on my atwood wh, both of my check valves have female ends.
using the search function, you can find threads on this forum including pictures relating to water heater problems.

you probably should drain and flush your water heater at least annually to remove the sediment in the tank. the sediment is what fouls the check valves and can get into your faucets causing problems.
before draining the tank, if you have an electric heating element, make sure it is turned off. it only takes a few seconds to burn out the element if there is no water in the tank.
