Hot water heater check valve

What configuration is the hot water heater check valve. Is it a male/female 1/2" npt or is it a male/male 1/2" npt? I plan on replacing with a brass valve. Is there one on both the cold water inlet and the hot water outlet?

I believe that the 2 check valves are labeled 'V-6' in Detail 'A' on page 7 of the the plumbing diagram for your coach: 1999 Brave 35C Plumbing Diagram

On my 02 Horizon there are 2...in and out...They are 1/2"npt male to male..

I am sorry I cannot remember which was which on mine. But, on the Winnebago plastic I think it was female on the input side and male on the output side. BUT, on the Camco brass unit it was the exact opposite. So, you have to make a bunch of changes anyway. Just take the old one out and look for the arrow on the side that indicates the water flow direction and compare it to the brass one. You may have to buy a couple of parts to get it hooked back up the correct way. Let us know how you make out.

With a part that can leave a camper screwed so badly I find it really hard to believe that Winnebago stuck plastic gismos in these places. I understand on some coaches the water heater has to be practically removed in order to get to the back of the heater to replace these valves. I figure my time is coming for this catastrophe to happen.

I did not have to replace mine but I did make a diagram of the set up. Camco makes both types you mentioned.

the camco pn 23303 brass check valve assy fits my moho with atwood water heater. cost was $9.19 each.

I found my old one. It was male to male but the brass Camco model was male to female. I could not get it in another version. So, I had to make a few changes.
Yes, there are two check valves. See Clay's response above. How did you make out?

I opened it up today. Mine were the brass Camco type. I ordered two from Dyers RV. Will test with air tomorrow to see which valve is bad.

The bad one will usually "buzz" when the water is running. If you cannot hear it; just feel it with your hand. If you are there; why not change both of them anyway?

Checked the water heater with air. The outlet was clocked. Got my new check valves from Dyers RV, Camco brass 1/2" mpt to 1/2" fpt. Turns out the ones in my 1999 Brave were brass 1/2" mpt to 1/2" mpt, with plastic inards. The new ones from Dyers have brass inards. Didn't have a 1/2" close nipple, so will have to go to town and pick one up. I didn't see any male to male check valves any place.
