I need to replace my house batteries. As I posted this week I am having problems with them. Anyone know what would be good replacements. And when I replace them can I leave the coach plugged into 50 AMP service. Thanks Ron.

If you are planning on keeping your rig and you routinely use the coach batteries a lot, you might want to consider replacing them with AGM batteries...absolutely maintenance free and generally last longer than standard batteries. They are expensive, however.

Some folks highly recommend golf car 6 volt batteries wired in series. Trojan is the brand recommended by many.

When I replaced my batteries, I disconnected from shore power to do the switch.

smlranger. Thank you for anwering my question we are full time and use the batteries routinely. I am going to replace them with the AGM batteries. Do you no if they are a special order or can I find them in a auto parts store. And when I replace them I will make sure the shore power is disconnected. Thanks Ron

Do a search for Lifeline AGM batteries. Get to the Lifeline site and check for dealers in your area. They have quite a few in Florida.

Thanks John I looked on the batteries plus web site you posted and found a location 13 miles from the campground were we are staying. I will call them in the morning so I can get the ball rolling on new batteries. Again thanks to all Ron

We use the deep cycles from Costco. They do not ask any questions when returning the batteries so return them anually for fresh batteries at no charge. We do this for the RV and the boat. Hard to beat.

All batteries are recycled. You would not want wake up to a cold RV in the middle of the desert. To me, it is preventative maintainance and for Costco, they get my business on our other purchases.

TigeDuner - the problem is that you seem to be taking advantage of Costco's open arms return policy. If the batteries are working fine why return them? Recently Costco stopped their open arm return policy on electronics, why? Partially because people were taking advantage of them. So now we have a 6mo return policy. At one year it was a great policy and I made a point to buy from them, at 6mo its not that great.

If you properly take care of your battery they should last several years, and then when they need to be replaced you buy new ones. Your system maybe legal, but it doesn't mean its the right thing to do.

I used to use Trojans, but now I use Sam's Club GC2 golf cart batteries. Same capacity and a lot easier to get an exchange on bad battery and they cost about half as much.

TigeDuner - Not trying to start an argument. I agree with Y - guy. I think you are unnecessarily taking advantage of the situation. Costco is not in the business to annually replace everyone's batteries after the initial purchase. The return policy is for defects, not ones annual maintenance. You are one of many that will ruin the return policy for everyone.
