House Batteries Charging Problem

I have a 2008 Adventurer 35L.

I have been having problems with the house battery charging system. I just changed the change over solenoid with the Napa ST80. The batteries are charging great now from the vehicle alternator. The batteries don't seem to be getting any charge from the 120V house current. I put a meter on the battery cables when the coach is plug into house power and there is no reading. Another symptom is: I disconnected the batteries so that I could charge them and I noticed that the house lights were flickering when only connected to 120V house power.

Do I have problems with my converter. I have also heard thing about a BIRD relay.

Any ideas?

You need to put all the cables back on the batteries and make sure the battery disconnect switch by the door is set to "connect" or such term. Your converter will only charge your house/coach batteries while on shore power, it won't charge the chassis battery unless you have a Trik-L-Start which is unlikely unless a previous owner installed one.

Jserna, if the house lights are flickering when connected to shore power and the batteries are disconnected sounds like a loose converter connection or bad converter.
Your coach does not have a BIRD relay.

Please look at this: http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/...ire_163178.pdf

It should help.

Check the output of your inverter/charger. If you have charging voltage there and none at the batteries you could have a blown fuse to the batteries from the inverter.

Make certain that your AC neutral and ground are solid. A neutral failure anywhere along the line will cause many strange problems and even cause equipment to fail. All grounds must be clean and tight. The connections on the batteries must be clean and tight. Also check the water in your batteries. If the plates are exposed your batteries are most likely damaged and need replacing.
