Hi All,

I need a little help as to how to release the hinge pins on our bedroom awning type window in our 2001 Journey. The window at issue is fogged [leaking] and I think if I can get it off the motor home I will be able to take the two panes apart, clean them up and reasemble with new double sticky tape and caulk.

I do stain glass and have disassembled thermopane windows in order to put art between the panes, seal them back up and never had a problem. therefore I am confident of my plan. The motor home window is small [only about 10" x 24"] so if I can just get it off all will be fine.

I have removed the two little spring clip retainers on the open/close arm mechanisim and the window is swinging free. I just do not see how the hinge pin on each end can be released.

Can anyone tell me how to get this window off???

Pine Tree,
Well Sir, I'll have to go out and look at ours but, at the minute, all I can assist you with is the fact that I pulled both drivers and passengers windows out of our Bounder for that problem. The frame (window) for those is a simple sandwich. A zillion screws on the inside and some caulking on the outside is what what holds it all together. I removed the screws and thought "there must be something else holding these two frames together". Nope, it was only caulking. Some serious but, gentle prying and vualllllla, they came apart and I had the windows fixed. But, again, not sure how the one you're working comes apart.
Sorry.

But, it is interesting to see and read that someone is attempting to fix, on their own, a fogged window. That's way cool in my book, but then I'm always known for stepping outside the box for repairs. Good luck.
Scott
