Probably a dumb question I know but I'm getting over shoulder surgery and haven't been up on the ladder yet.

I've read posts how people find leaks in their lights but not how they fixed it. Probably self evident when I get up there. I have the older style on my 2003 journey and was looking for some advice for when I can climb a ladder and raise my dern arm above my head again lol!

It seems like the leak is usually the gaskets. Lots of people switch them out with LEDS.

I'm getting ready to change mine, water leaks into the lights then degrades the rubber gasket and seeps into the screw holes and the hole the wire runs through. I plan on using butyl tape and then caulk around the edges. The common replacement is the Bargman 59 light either in LED or original versions.

Agreed, I've seen several references to 'the light was full of water'. So it seems that the mount to the RV is good, it's the lens gasket that starts to leak and then water seeps in to the RV via the mounting screws and wire runs.

Thanks everyone!! It also looks like it's time to upgrade to LED lights. Always something to upgrade but I still love my 2003 Journey.

There are two types of marker or other outside leaks

one is this
The light is supposed to be "Sealed" to the vehicle body, Well, usually this is a thing caulk layer around the light AFTER mounting, or a foam pad under the light BEFORE mounting. the caulk dries and cracks and leaks,, Re-caulking, or "lift" the light and lay adheasive/sealant under it (GOOP?.. Asking more than suggesting) seals that.

The other leak is the lens cap leaks into the lamp assembley.. ALl I can suggest is a drain on that one.
