After 5 years of leaking 'a little' our bedroom slide is now in full gush. I've got an appointment at the HWH factory in Moscow Iowa later this month.

I've got the basic directions but was wondering if there is anything special one needs to know about arriving at the factory. I plan on being there the night before as I have a 7am appointment.

Any particular tips or things to look for?

TIA.

The factory lot is locked at night. Dry camp at the old abandoned resturant at the freeway exit SW corner. Everyone does. HWH used to serve you free lunch there before the place closed years ago. Just check in at the office and you're all set. Great folks to deal with!!!

The other option is to actually park at HWH. If you get there before they close the evening before, they have a bunch of hook-ups available next to the service bays. Their service entrance is on the east side of the road about 3/4 mile from the exit (south of I-80).

Over the years I have been there 3 times. My advise is to use the most southern entrance. It was not locked at night when we were there last year. There were 6 electric hookups next to their service building on a first come basis. They are very customer friendly.

I would like to add my comments concerning HWH customer service. On our way home from UP Michigan we experienced a problem with our right front leveler. While driving the "jack down" light and alarm came on. I pulled over and found the jack down abut 1/4 inch, just enough to trigger the alarm. (Boy is that alarm annoying) I used a fence post to lever the leveler up to shut off the alarm. A little later the same thing happened.

We called HWH and were disappointed to learn we couldn't get an appointment for over a week and we were only two days away from the factory. They also stated we would have to wait a couple of days to talk with a technician. Slightly disgruntled, we continued on and took the rig into a RV shop in Appleton, WI which had a HWH certificate on the wall. The mechanic told us we had a bad control valve that would have to be replaced. They also said HWH was slow with their parts orders and it could take 2-3 weeks. (More disgruntled)

We continued on toward Iowa in hope of, at least picking up the part to have it installed later. We arrived at the factory the next day about 10 am and threw ourselves on the mercy of the nice lady (Tammy) in the service department. She said they were backed up for over a week but if we could wait they would try to get the rig in late afternoon or the next morning. One of the problems was they were trying to get everything together to go to the Winnebego rally. We left for lunch fully expecting to have to spend the night at their facility. After lunch we return just in time to move the rig into an empty bay. The technician immediately started to work and confirmed the control valve (solenoid) was bad and needed replacing. He retrieved the part and, after a short break for his lunch, replaced the part. He also installed a new set of springs. I requested new springs all the way around which he did in short time.

In about 1 1/2 hours we were on the road again. I want to commend HWH for their great customer service. They were courteous, friendly, and the technician answered all my questions while he was working on the rig. The cost of the work was also very reasonable. I don't recommend anyone just dropping in and expecting to be serviced but we were certainly pleased they could fit us in and not interrupt our trip planning.
