HWH leveling system: fluid level check

I have a 03 Horizon with HWH leveling jacks and slides. I do not understand the fluid dipstick in the reservoir. My fluid is at the lowest groove in the aluminum dipstick. How much fluid should I add to fill the system? I did not receive a HWH manual with the coach and really have not had too many problems after the warranty. I know I have a leak in the right front jack ,at the hose connection at the top of the jack ,that is the reson for the fluid loss.

All jacks and slides must be retracted and somewhat level before checking the fluid level...
There should be 2 marks on the dipstick 1 high 1 low as long as it's between the marks your good to go.. If you need to add do a little at a time and recheck..
It really comes to about 1 inch below the top of the tank...

HWH recommends HWH hydralic fluid or Dextron III trans. fluid...
The only difference is the dye in the Trans fluid... If you have a leak on the carpet it might/will stain... I used trans fluid when I needed to add after service!

I thought you could buy the fluid directly from HWH? Also, you need to tighten the "T" at the top of your right front jack. 98% of the time the T just needs to be tightened and the leak will stop. Safe travels.

Mine came with the red stuff in it in 2003.. I guess HWH ran out of the clear..or the dealer added some?

Most if not all of the hoses, etc. are below floor level anyway..

The good news is I have found a second use for the plastic hose I had bought to use to fill my boats hydraulic steering . It has a cap molded into the hose and fits a quart size plastic bottle used for oil,trans fluid etc. The hose is long enough to fit into the HWH reservoir from the outside of the coach. Relish in small cost savings when you own a MH or boat. You have already spent the big bucks.

They don't make it very easy do they? I forget what model Adventurer it was but the tank was behind the livingroom slideout... So you could only check it when the slide was out..and you needed to get under the coach! You could tell it was overfilled a few times.. Fluid and dirt everywhere... Sometimes you have to ask yourself what were they thinking???
