Hydraulic Reservoir

Okay - the weather is good and I can get outdoors without blowing away, and try to sort out the workings of our new to us 2007 Itasca Ellipse 40 TD, so... yet another question. Hydraulic reservoir for leveling jacks and slides is under the entry steps. So what is the hydraulic reservoir for that is located beneath the coolant reservoir, at the rear engine access?

Just a wild guess, but perhaps power steering? Is your radiator fan hydraulic?

I have that same question was wondering if it is an auxiliary tank for the jack reservoir since the other one is so hard to get to. I have mine apart for radiator anc cac cleaning and there is no power steering pump anywhere on the Cat engine. I am thinking maybe steering is air-assist off the auxiliary air tank. The two reservoir hoses disappear inside the frame rails and join a giant bundle of wiring heading to the front of rather coach. Will crawl under front and see what is hooked to steering.

OK just crawled underneath and two large hydraulic hoses on the steering box followed them back passenger side there is a hydraulic pump like one you would see on a log splitter bolted on the back of the air compressor on my Cat C7. The hoses from the back reservoir one goes to pump and one to steering box with one more line from steering box coming back to pump. Thanks for brining up this thread because it had me scratching my head yesterday. Jim

That hydraulic fluid reservoir IS the power steering reservoir! It’s the same on almost all Freightliner rear radiator chassis’s. As for the one who asked about access to the HWH reservoir and manifold under the front steps, if you put your fingers just under the front lip, about midway across, you’ll find a nut that’s attached to a stud. Remove that nut and pivot the step upwards. You can do that for both steps.

hwh jacks and slides system

Thank you for your response. Now I am looking for the fuses that control the HWH system and do not know where to find them. Being that the slides and jacks all quit working so suddenly, wondering if it could be as simple as a fuse, but have not been able to locate the fuses for this system. Any ideas?
