I have a problem .... no water in HW heater ...

We are on the road heading south ... we got to Sikeston, MO today ... I decided to de-winterize.

I have a problem ... I can not get any water to flow into my hot water heater ... I removed the plug and there is no water in the heater ...

1) I tried the bypass valve in both positions ...

2) I took off the little door on the bottom of the hot water heater held on by 4 screws and tapped the brass (?? check valve ??) with a small hammer ... No success ...

Any ideas ...

Oh yes we have a 2004 39W Journey ...

I have searched this forum and found one thread ...

Do you just have one bypass valve? Look for a second one. I have two (factory installed) valves on one camper and just one on (installed by me using a kit from CW)the other...

From everything I have read, your non return valve is bad. You can take the insides out of it which will stop you from being able to winterize later but will get you going for now. Going by your address you will need to replace the valve at some point or don't go home in the winter I have read these valves are cheap quality but have not had mine out yet.

There maybe three valves required to dewinterize. There is on mine.
There is one to stop the flow TO the heater. One to stop the flow FROM the heater. The third is before both of them and connects BETWEEN these lines to complete a loop without the heater.
The pair on and crossover off for summer AND heater use. The pair off and crossover on to isolate the heater for nonuse and winterization.

I am happy to report that we have hot water in the coach again ...

The problem was a faulty "Back Flow Preventer" valve on the back of the water heater. The valve was $13 plus one hour of labor ...

I had it repaired at Country Creek RV Center in Jackson, MS... they had me fixed and back on the road in less than 2 hours from the time that I arrived ...

I was very pleased with their service ... and we can have hot showers again ...

We are in Baton Rouge, LA tonight ...
