Inoperative wall plugs

On our 2004 Adventurer the wall plugs have quit working, all of them except the ones in the front cockpit area. The one at the end of the kitchen counter and the one in front of the bathroom sink are GFI plugs. Pushing the reset button on them does no good. Tried resetting all 3 wall plug circuit breakers didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Do you have an outside socket? It will probably have a GFCI. Somewhere there must be another one. There is also the possibility that one of the GFCI's you found isn't resetting when you push the button. When you push the TEST button can you hear it trip?

These wiring diagrams will help you corrolate the items that are connected together. Don't try to work them all at once. Just start with one failing path and work back towards the shore power/generator input until you find the source of the problem. Your model rig came with either 30 amp or 50 amp service. Make sure you use the pages that apply to your service type.

I sometimes loose all the 110v power at the kitchen slide and sink in the bathroom. Took it in a few times to be repaired and was never told what they had to repair or replace. (I thought maybe a 110v wire was loose under the kitchen slide.)

When it happened again recently and I didn't want to take it in to service, I poked around. Turns out they didn't do anything, other than 'reset' the GFCI in the water-closet area, opposite of the side that was losing power. I never would have guess that GFCI would have taken out the power at the kitchen. Spent a couple of hundred dollars on previous 'repairs' and it looks like the dealer really didn't repair anything for that money, just did a reset, smiled and took my money.

Hopefully yours will be that simple. -RT

Does your rig have an Inverter/Charger, if so check the Pop out breaker on the unit.

Are you able to do some electrical trouble shooting? Do you have a basic ac voltmeter? If not, try and find a small lamp. Plug it into a known good outlet and make sure it comes on. We can use this for some basic troubleshooting.

The test process I would sugest is to systematically test all the outlets and all the breakers in the RV. As you do so, you might want to consider labeling your outlets so you will know in the future what breaker feeds what outlet.

OK, let's start at your ac breaker panel. If you have 50 amp service in your MH then we will ignore for now the first four breakers (20A, 50A, 50A, and 20A on the left hand side) If your MH is wired for 30 amp service we will ignore the first three breakers (20A, 30A, and 20A).

The next breaker to the right (15A) feeds the load shedder. Assuming the load shedder has not disabled any loads, this breaker ultimately feeds the refrigerator and the converter. So test this by plugging in your lamp into the refirgerator outlet. Make sure it is on and then turn this breaker off to verify the lamp goes off. If all is well the turn the breaker back on and plug the refrigerator back in if you removed it.

The next breaker to the right (15A) feeds the microwave. So, verify that the microwave comes on. Turn off the breaker and make sure the microwave goes off and then turn the breaker back on.

OK, the next breaker to the right (15A) feeds many outlets with GFI's. I am guessing your problem will be found here. Because of the GFI, you will need to test these in the following order:

1. Hallway (if this outlet doesn't work, reset the GFI)
2. The outlet in the lavatory
3. External entertainment center
4. Exterior (??)
5. Toilet
6. Computer Desk
7. Table/computer

The next breaker to the right (15A) feeds:
1. the outlet for the charger,
2. GFI outlet in the galley (if this outlet doesn't work, reset the GFI)
3. Another outlet in the galley area

The next breaker to the right (15A) feeds:
1. An outlet near the front TV for the inverter
2. An outlet for the front of the bed
3. An outlet for the air matress
4. An outlet for the rear of the bed

The next two breakers (both 20A) are for the Washer/Dryer and the Hotwater Heater (through the load shedder).

Hopefully this will help you find the problem (at least you can get all your outlets labeled!)
