I want to share my experience with Verizon broadband. I have had Verizon Broadband for almost 2 years. On a recent trip covering 5,000 miles I only had a couple of places where I did not have broadband coverage. And two locations had no Verizon cell phone coverage but the broadband worked. We like wireless broadband so well that we cancelled our land line at home and are entirely wireless (cell phone and EVDO broadband). This saved more than enough to pay for the monthly broadband fees.
I recently upgraded my Verizon 5740 wireless card to the new Rev. A, USB 720 EVDO card and found my download and upload speeds much improved - download speeds are more than double. Here is a recent speed test. No accelerator software is being used.

Thanks for the information. I have been looking into doing the same thing as we will be going back on the road this fall. I am glad it is working out for you. Happy Travels!

Add me to the list of happy Verizon Broadband customers. We just returned from a 15 state, 6,000 mile trip and also found only a couple of very remote spots where we didn't have wireless access. It sure beats having to move around the CG to find their wireless signal... if it even exists!

That $399 was an ad on the Speakeasy speed test website. It was not meant to be part of the message. I will run another speed test and post it without the ad. FYI: The monthly fee for Verizon Wireless Broadband is $59.

We use a 5740 card but have it in a router so we can use multiple computers. We love the service as we can do all of our computer work and online banking anywhere we can get service. We have not found a location where we did not have service.
