Hi Guys, Never had tried my heart interface freedom 20 inverter, so last weekend I unplugged from shore power, checked my batteries levels (13.2 - 13.4 house and chassis) pressed the invert button on my oneplace panel and switched on the tv....I then checked my batteries level again and noticed the numbers started to drop. After a couple of minutes I checked again and the house battery was down to 12.6 with the chassis battery close behind. I switched off the invert function. My question is: is this normal, would the voltage have continued to drop quickly or would it have leveled out to a more normal drop rate. I didnt want to flatten my batteries as I had to return the bus to my storage location. All batteries are newish and have performed great since being installed.
Thanks in advance,
John

Perfectly normal. The higher voltage is from the charger. As you use the batteries/inverter to power your AC appliances the battery voltage will lower. When it gets to about 12.2 volts they are at about 50% capacity and should then be recharged.

12.6 is, as I recall without checking the charts, Normal full charge resting voltage.

The batteries will show a higher voltage when you first unplug from shore power,, normally. This higher voltage vanishes very quickly however.

Thanks guys for the responses, big sigh of relief here, I was beginning to think my new batteries might have a problem, or the inverter was faulty. Just goes to show "ignorance is bliss" doesn't always apply.

I came across this website that compares battery voltage to its state of charge that may provide a level of comfort when using your batteries.
