My '07 Adventure 38T Has a 600 watt invertor. Can I upgrade to a 2000 watt unit . does anybody know if this can be done with little or no problems. Will I be able to operate my microwave and or the heat pumps. I was in a '08 vector They we're on house power heat pumps on they had a 2k invertor. Would there major wiring problems. Main fuse is 150amp .

The inverter only powers the TV and the AC plug in the entertainment cabinet. You would have to do a lot of rewiring to get the heat pump and microwave to work off of the larger inverter. Also, you will have to increase the house battery capacity to support the increased 12 volt demand from the larger inverter.

My 1500 runs everything except the heat pumps, refer, washer/dryer and engine heater. Does run the microwave, TV and most coach outlets.

For a 2k inverter you would want a min. of four 220ah deep cycle batteries (for total amp hours you add one 220ah 6V battery to a second in series to get one 220AH 12V battery string; four wired at (6+6=12) + (6+6=12) gives 440ah, six gives 660ah.

My micro draws 150 amps from the batteries on high setting, so if you do 45 min. of actual cooking that would be 0.75hr x 150A = 113ah used. If I had four batts for 440ah, that would be a draw of 25% of battery capacity. With only two batteries this simple cooking chore would use 50% of battery capacity.

It is usual to wire a large inverter to an inverter breaker panel, in which breakers for the circuits to run your stuff tap the power. Sounds like you don't have a panel of this type now, but the wiring may be simple enough if the original coach wiring is from a central point near where you would mount the inverter & new panel. This gets into a lot of detail pretty quick, so I'd suggest keeping this project in mind till you have a chance for somebody well versed in wiring take a look at your existing setup. If you can't find someone on line who can post pictures of the new 2000 setup, you will need a hands on analysis by someone familiar with the equipment (batteries, inverter(s), 110V panel(s), and running Romex wire cable in a coach).

Thanks mike , I do have the distribution panel close , So what i'm reading from your post is the coach needed to be set up from the factory with the larger invertor thus all the correct wiring with-in the coach would be deticated accordinly. seems like a wiring maylay leave it the way we bought it .

I upgraded my coach to 2000 inverter. It had a 600 inverter. The upgrade required to rewire and install a seperate 4 breaker 110 box. The new inverter was wired into that box. The box controlled all 110 outlets except the air/heat pumps, fridge, engine heater, water heater.

I had it done at CW in Chicago. It was the best upgrade I have done and the additional 3 stage battery charger on the inverter maintains the battery bank much better than the converter.

The rewireing must be done as the inverter can't take the high use items (heat pump etc.)
