I have a Cummins ISB in a Journey 32T. Has anyone changed a fanbelt in this engine? It looks tough from the top or bottom side.

I just replaced both belts (fan & AC) and the guys at FL said it was a real pain in the rear. Nothing I would try. Both of my belts were cracking.

My previous coach was a 2001 32T Journey. I was about to do the belt change, but wound up selling it, going to a 36G. (I think the belt change would have been cheaper).

Anyway, I found some great information about the belts on Yahoo Groups-Bounder Motorhomes, which share the same chassis. The main belt is not too much of a problem, however many difficulties were presented about the AC compressor belt being difficult because it may not go over the fan. Some owners had gone to s slightly longer belt and and modified the compressor mount to take up the new length. Several owners agreed that with two people, the main belt could be changed in just a few minutes- wear gloves- one person on top, one below. Use a suitable tool to unwind the spring tensioner.

I was going to just change the main belt. If the AC belt broke, it generally would not efffect the other.

Good luck.

I think any type of work to be done on that end of the engine, whether Cat or Cummins, is really tough. The coach manufacturing engineers must have thought nothing there would ever need replacing or they would have made things more accessible. If they had to do the work I bet they would have made an engine access door back on the rear.
