Nice review. Does it have 3 roof-top AC's or did they put basement air in it? Also, can't help but be disappointed that they use the rear radiator confirguration on a high end rig.

Gary, The 42AD has 3 - 13,500 BTU roof air conditioners w/heat pump and condensate pump.

I did not have a lot of time to review the outside of the vehicle but to the best of my recollection is has a rear cool pack.

Rear radiatior rigs suffer from the following:

1. more road grime gets in the cooling pack requiring frequent cleaning, which is not easy to do.

2. much more difficult to access the engine for maintenance items....belts, hoses, filters. Maybe not an issue for those who will always have someone else do their maintenance but an issue for those of us who like DIY.

I'm not saying I would never consider another rear radiator coach, just that a 42' coach that sells for $300,000+ should offer the option of the side radiator configuration.

This rear radiator business is getting out of hand!
I concur it may be harder to work on certain parts of the engine.
AND prior to the "closed" engine, no slobber tube, the radiator did get a little nasty.
Maybe it's me, but I've never had any problems with cooling with a rear cooling system. Owned three, washed them myself and soaped & rinsed the radiator each time. Just routine.
Was I just lucky? Could be......

With this 08 Tour (25K miles) the radiator has stayed fairly clean.
(400 ISL, no slobber tube)

Ditto, Ditto!! We've had both and I prefer the side radiator configuration for ease of maintenance, etc.

Thanks for sharing. Wow... we have a 2007 Ellipse 40FD which we love but each new year gives us reason to lust over the new ones. We had seen a very similar floorplan on a new Tour at the Pamona show this year. Very impressive. Good for Winnie.

I also do all service and repairs myself and have never had any issues with the rear radiator configuration. If you just extend the slobber tube it eliminates all of the oily mist that could get onto the radiator. Keeping the fins clean on every radiator should be a standard service item. I use the old radiator reverse flush gun (the one with air and water), cleans the radiator as slick as you please and works great on the engine as well.

Sure is funny, you doing an article on a pusher?? I got to drive it at GNR. Drives like a dream and is extremely quiet because of all the insulation in the roof. I understand the ccc is 9,300 lbs; more than anyone whould ever need. A great unit.
Question: Do you happen to know the model number of the Garmin GPS? I need to upgrade and would like to use the same one?
