Itasca Meridian '06 36G - FW Tank Location?

We are planning to install the Garnet 709 Tank Level Monitor System in place of the "idiot light" system installed by Winnebago. Does anyone know precisely where the potable water tank is located and how to obtain access to the side of the tank to install the '709' sensor strip? A web site URL having a photo or chassis assembly illustration would be appreciated. Failing that, if anyone has already done the job on the '06 Itasca 36G or similar motorhome, please let me hear from you.

from memory:
go to Winnebagoind.com clik on Resources, then Diagrams and Manuals, then find your specific model #. By drilling down you can ultimately get to drawings that will show your tank (s) location(s).

I replaced the sensors on a 03 34H with the True Level sensors. I believe that the 36G is similar.

The sensors are actually on the front of the tank. Access to mine was through the cargo bay near where the fresh water dump valve was located.

Take a look under the passenger side just aft of the first storage door. You should see a large (1"?) black PVC pipe pointed down at the ground. That is the F/W dump and is located on the forward side of the tank. Slide under and you will find a metal plate mounted on the that forward end. Remove a bunch of screws and pry the plate loose from the black goo that's under it and you'll be looking at the dump valve and the factory sensors. Put the new sensor strip in that area. If you want to sacrifice the idiot lights just use their wiring up to the one-place panel. Or add new wiring, as I did. I really don't remember how I routed the new wiring, but it would seem reasonable to just follow the old light wiring.

It's not a real big job and you'll sure appreciate that digital readout...

John Canfield has done a good install procedure for these on a Winnie. Go to Janeandjohns page.org.
Also search in this forum under see level, there is a least one install procedure. Both are detailed.

I had the 36G floorplan and installed that system. Access to the front of the tank is via a removable panel near where the drain is (under the coach). If your's is the same, you will only be able to install one of the two strips you will need at the front. You will need to access the side of the tank from inside the most forward passenger side compartment by removing panel/s that expose the tank and the forward slide ram.

JoeK did a great thread on installing this system on his 36G and I followed with pics of installing the sensor strips on the FW tank. It was several years ago but you should be able to find it by searching the Winne forum.
