Itasca Meridian rear slide retraction

On random occasions, my 2007 Meridan 36G slides do not extend or retract on command. I'm trying to track down why, but in the mean time I want to be prepared.

The manual for the 36G has a procedure for retracting the front slide manually if it doesn't work. There is no mention of the rear slide nor a procedure for retracting it manually.

Can anyone tell me where to find it or how to do it?

The procedure is basically the same as the front slide, open the correct slide out solenoid valve (I am not sure if you have to open only the one slide that will not come in or if both of the slide out valves must be opened) for the rear slide. Rather then crank in the rear slide (like you do for the front driver's side slide), you merely go outside and push the rear slide in. I had to do this once on my unit when I was working through some initial purchase bugs. It was not hard to do. The less items in the closet the easier. In my case I was able to push it in all the way except for about 1 inch by myself. I then closed the solenoid valve and drove it more than 60 miles to the dealer and did not have a problem in transit.

Now cranking the the large slide was a job that took two people, in my case a nearby camper came over and with the two of us cranking at the same rate we were able to hand crank the front slide in equally all the way in. I used the crank that came with the Journey and he used a socket wrench.

Thanks, that is very helpful. I still have one question.

How can I determine the correct solenoid valves and which controls each slide? There are valves over a pump located just inboard of the steps. Two smaller on the left and four larger ones on the right. Do some of these control the slides and some the HWH jacks? Are there separate valves for retract and extend for each slide?

On my 2006 Journey 36G my recollection is that the four large ones are for the jacks. My HWH manual is in the motorhome right now, so I am unable to access it.

Welcome to HWH Corporation has a lot of technical info on it. There is a click button on the web site there for technical information, manuals, etc. The correct answer depends on the model you have. The Winnebago help desk can tell you for sure what model was installed.
