On our (new to us) '05 Itasca, the front slide does not seem to work properly. It goes out and back in but when moving it tends to move at proper speed then slow, move then slow, and until either in or out . It never stops moving but is constantly slowing down then speeding back up. Does anyone have a thought about what the problem might be? Its and electric slide. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If it's a Kwikee electric slide like ours, there is a controller with a revolution counter that adjusts the speed of the two motors so that the slide comes in evenly. Mine makes three or four adjustments as it comes in.

If the speed up and slowing down is excessive you might need to lubricate parts of the mechanism.

Back when Kwikee still had customer service they told me to use dish soap to clean the high density polyurethane slide glides and the square metal tubes they slide on if necessary. They should not be lubed though.

They (Kwikee) sell a spray lubricant that dries to a wax that can be used to lube the threaded shafts (worm gears) that operates the slide. You have to crawl under the extended slide to see them.

Thanks, Clay! It is a Kwikee slide. I get the impression from your comments that the varying speeds is normal and merely a means to adjust the two gear mechanisms so that the room will come in or go out without binding. Is that correct? Again, thanks!

Larry

Yes that is right however, if it is doing a lot of speeding up and slowing down, the mechanism might need lubing as mentioned in post above.

Clay: Again, thanks and I will lube as suggested.
