Itasca Sunrise Toilet Smells... need seal?

Hi all,

We took our new to us 2004 Itasc Sunrise 34D on it's shakedown cruise last week. Before long, the bathroom odor became... unpleasent...

There had been some water in the tank previously, so whatever was in there had been wet before we took it out. I had also dropped some enzyme pods in there to treat the tank. But it got pretty rank in there.

The ball valve is holding water, so I don't think odor is leaking past it. So, I'm suspecting the floor flange seal may have dried out and is leaking fumes. I'm thinking actual use may have stressed and cracked the seal. I would like to replace it, but I'm unsure what to buy. The part catalog lists the toilet as a "travel lite" and the winnebego part number as 085330-01-723 with a vendor number of 341549. But, I can't find a key of vendor numbers.

Any idea what I should purchase?

And am I on the right track with this for solving my odor issues?

Thanks,
Matt

There is a valve under you bathroom sink that let's air in the tank, but keeps odor in. Could be that.

Toilet floor flange gasket is a FOAM gasket.
If toilet is still tight to floor (no wobble when sitting) then chances are floor flange still good as there is NO wear/tear on them

Air Admittance Valves.
On sink drain lines (bathroom & Kitchen) after the 'P' traps.
They are hand screwed into a 'stub' pipe.
They Open when draining waste tank so that 'P' traps do NOT get sucked dry from negative pressure in drain line.

GREY waste can stink worst then black tank odors so if the AAV does not close...whew...major stink

Traveler Toilet is a Sealand (Dometic Brand)
The part number 341549 is the correct part number (Sealand) for the floor flange gasket

Check if your toilet has an 'overflow' hole in bowl......if it does fill that hole with water. If dried out black tank odors can come back up

If all the previous good suggestions fail to pinpoint the problem, it may be the vent pipe is leaking around the seal to the tank. I've heard of the vent pipe sliding down which stops the venting process when it hits the surface of the liquid inside the tank.

Good luck,
Bill
