Jensen radio/CD/DVD issues

We have a Jensen AWM960 combo radio/CD/DVD player in our 2008 Sightseer. All of a sudden, the unit will not play CD's. It takes them in and the display says loading for a few minutes and then it says no disc. Tried several CD's with same results.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is this unit "dead"? Are they repairable? Where can I get repair or replacement? How difficult is it to remove from the dash board?

Thanks to all who share their knowledge!

1. Repairs are not cheap on any combo unit. Usually a couple of hundred $$.

2. Has the DVD feature failed also?

3. Try de-powering and then reconnecting to reboot the microprocessor. Either remove the fuse that powers the unit, or disconnect the battery.

I have a 2007 sightseer. Just replaced mine with a double din alpine. Doable but you have to modify the mounting plate to accept the double din unit. I enlarged opening with a dremel using a cutoff wheel. Takes some patience.

Have you tried the old "paper clip" trick to reset? Using a wire end of a paper clip (you can use a toothpick, ball point pen tip, etc.) to push into the little hole just above the "menu" button and it will reset the unit.

If that doesn't work, there use to be a Jensen Commercial member that participates on this irv2 board. He use to answer all the questions people had about Jensen electronic stuff. I'll see if I can find him.

ETA: His user name is JENSENRVdirect. He hasn't posted in a few months but maybe you can send him a PM. Here's one of his posts so you can get his member information: click here

Thanks for the information, I'll try the paper clip trick and contact the Jensen person. Tom
