What kind of mod to the table. Words don't cost on here - try using a few more.

Journey table mod

Simple but effective table modification. Cut table 8", shortened base to support and also shorter length
Still good size for 4 , but allows easy access to rear of coach when slides are in

This 2016 journey 38 was discontinued possibly because of the table - glad we bought it and modified table - perfect coach for us

We liked the 38 also, and had actually planned on looking for 1 when we got closer to retirement, but then we found out Winnebago had stopped production already before we had even seen the floorplan. It's easy for us to see why you like the floorplan. We really liked the kitchen, bedroom, and bath-especially the extra large shower, and we're hoping Winnebago creates a new floorplan that uses that shower.

I'm glad you made a modification that made your MH better. However, I doubt Winnebago discontinued the Journey because of the table.

Actually it was a big deal. You couldn't access rear of coach with slides in - the permanently mounted table blocked passage way
You're right , I have no idea, but it was a major problem - dumb engineering

My older '02 Journey has a pocket leaf for the table (OP never mentioned if theirs is a buffet style or stand alone table). Mine sticks out 43.5" from the wall and there's plenty of room to walk back into the back without problem with the slide in. The pocket leaf adds another 12" or so...I've never used the leaf, but I've never had 3 guests that needed to use the table either.

I don't care for the buffet style bench seats anyway, so replacing the whole thing with a stand alone with chairs is an option in my world.

My point is that someone wanting to make this mod might also be able to find the same table I've got for your newer Journey 38, on the RV Salvage market.

Our salon configuration is much different than yours- we have a buffet on one side and sofa on the other , therefore
We cut the table down to 20" so we had room to walk to rear when slides are in
With slides out the table, with leaves in, is now 36"- large enough for us , especially with buffet adjacent to it
We also prefer this to a settee - much more comfortable
tv is across from sofa for easy viewing as well as from table and front chairs
Thank you for notes and concern - we are very happy campers

I'd be happy to share pics if I knew how ?? Send instructions and I will. Do you also own the 2016, journey 38?? I think it's the only model I've heard of with this unique problem I think we're a small group of approx 30-50 owners
