Once you own a diesel, you'll never go back. The Cummins 300hp is very adequate. And it gets better mileage (1-2mpg) than the CAT C7. On the strait and level you will travel with the best of them. Only on the hills will you slow down, but who cares? You'll get there with the rest of the pack, maybe just behind them.
Go for it! I had both gas and diesel, and diesel is the way to go.
More horespower is nice, but you pay the price. You are looking at a good deal. You'll pay another $20K for an '08 with the bigger engine.
