Journey 7.5 Quiet Diesel voltage fluctuation

On my 2002 Journey the last time out, i noticed that the voltage reading on my square Camping world plug in voltage indicator was pulsating from 122 volts to 130 volts running under load. (I seem to remember that several months ago i saw the voltage indicator pulsating about 3 or 4 volts. My other plug in voltage indicator with just lights remains constant at a fixed voltage...Do you think the voltage indicator is the problem? I will check it tomorrow using a volt meter (digital). Would a digital volt meter show fluctuation voltage?.....Could the problem be in the generator itself and how do I check it?...thanks RKL

A digital VOM probably will not show rapid fluctuations but the old analog style will if you have one. google for the service manual for the Onan 7.5. I can't remember teh site I bought one from but I got it and it wasn't too expensive. According to the manual I have which is for the 7.5 model HDKAJ et al, the symptom of hunting under load is typically caused by fuel. Suggestions are to shut it down then prime fuel by holding STOP switch down for at least one minute. If this doesn;t fix it then look for fuel or air leaks in fuel supply / return lines. The manual doesn't say this but, if were mine I would change the fuel filter before anything else.
let us know your solution......it may help others

The 7.5 QD is a variable speed generator, so speed issues should not affect voltage.

The higher the load, the faster the QD runs.

It generates DC and an internal inverter puts out pure sine wave AC.
