At four years of service, it seems my 3 12V interstates are not holding a charge for very long. I am going to do the equalizing process but not hopefull that will change things.

I'd like to replace the 3 interstates with 4 GC2 6 volts from Sam's but not sure about the fit. I seem to have 11 1/4" clearance at the opening of my compartment (more clearance once inside the compartment) and all of the 6 volt batteries I've measured (at Sam's and Batteries Plus) measure right at 11 1/4" at top of the connectors.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone with a 2002/03 Journey who has done a similar switch to ensure the batteries fit and the tray has supported the extra weight.

Gary, I made the change to 6 volt batteries about a year ago. I used Trojen batteries that measure 10 3/4" to the top of the connectors. I was still concerned about the clearence in the opening of my compartment so I used a dremel cutoff blade (several of them) to raise the opening about 1 inch. The Kwikee battery tray has supported the batteries great but I still have not figured a good battery hold down setup. I really don't think I need one unless I go off road traveling.
