Journey entry door latch

My entry door mechanism is giving me problems. At first I thought my keys were worn so we had new keys made (from the extra set that seemed to work best). That helped for a year but now both the bottom lock and the deadbolt lock is hard to use with any key. I suspect a locksmith would charge more than the thing is worth to rebuild the locks.

I know the mechanism is Trimark. Anyone know of good sources for a replacement (other than Winne $$$$$ ?)

I replaced mine by calling Trimark. It was several years ago and I don't recall the price but it wasn't outrageous. I would call them as they were very helpful with my problem but the only satisfactory solution was buying a replacement.

I had a similiar problem ... my lock got so unpredictable that I was afraid that I would be locked out ... I called Lichtsinn ... they sent me an improved lock that works great ...

A friend helped me install the new one .... there is a thread on this forum on how to replace the lock.

You will need three keys for your coach now ... dead bolt, night latch on door, and compartment doors ...

UPDATE: Replaced door latch mechanism today with new one bought from Winnebago. As with most things with a motorhome, it was a bit of a pain, requiring some choice words . Of course as soon as I get the old mechanism out of the door and get ready to install the new one, I discover that they did not ship a new gasket for the exterior latch plate and the old gasket was not reusable. Clear caulk had to do.

Also, can't understand why they didn't make the hole in the door to access the 7/16" nut on the latch bolt just a bit larger. As instructed, I got the most thin wall 7/16" socket I could find but still had to take a grinder to the socket to make it fit into the opening (are you listening Winnebago??) I was going to enlarge the opening in the door rather than grind a perfectly good Craftsman socket but with the blot in the way, my enlarging bit would not work .

Finally, I took the opportunity to remove the inner door panel and add some foam and foil insulation to the open spaces in the door. Now instead of the door sounding cheap and hollow when closing, it now sounds like a quality car door when it is closed .

The friend that helped me install mine figured out that we could manipulate the lock so that the "nut" could be poked out through the opening so it could be removed (and replaced) without the necessity of getting the socket through the hole in the side of the door.

We counted the number threads before removing the nut ... and put the new one on the same number of threads.
