I have a 2006 Journey and have added a splendide washer / dryer combo model 2100. works well but on this trip have gotten a sewer odor and suspect it is coming out of washer drain line, when a/c is on. there is a common cavity for a/c return and plumbing for w/d option.
the question I have is this; the drain line for w/d is just stuck down in pipe which is otherwise open, no vent block or anything. I have a "add-a-vent cap which was apparently removed when it was installed. how do you use a cap and still put drain hose in pipe? any help is appreciated, wife is not happy with two days to go on this trip.
thanks,
Robert "rhoop98"

Robert, We all have this type of trouble with our Splendid washing machines. What you need to do is to make sure that you have a trap and that you ocasionally run a little water through the Splendid to fill the trap. Keep water in the trap and you won't get any smell.

Measure the diameter of both pipe and washer drain hose. Visit a hardware store and buy a rubber seal. It attaches with radiator clamps to both, making a water, and vapor-tight seal. They are available in many sizes, on each end, you will find one to fit your piping.

both good suggestions, not sure there is a trap on this, not one in sight anyway and didn't even think about the adapter to close it off. thanks so much.

UPDATE: thought this might be helpful to others who may have same experience. Turns out the good folks at camping world were not so smart in installing the splendide washer / driyer combo. they removed the vent cap off of the vent stack and stuffed the washer drain hose down into the pipe. from the angle that i was viewing the plumbing from the access panel in the closet, i could not see that there was a T and drain line with a p trap already in place. i discovered this after buying the material to add a t and piping to accomodate the drain line separately from the vent stack and was in process of cutting the pipe when I finally noticed the T. since i could not reach the drain line (of Course) in the opposite corner, we had to remove the w/d and reroute drain hose. took about 10 minutes but beware, the w/d is as heavy as you think it is going to be.
So moral of story is don't assume everyone at CW is totally up to speed on every item. however odor problem is solved and all is well.

now you guys got me thinking. i have a splendide and used it a bunch. i haven't had any odor and i'm pretty sure the drain should dump to the grey water tank. i bought the coach used, but suspect it was installed at the factory------maybe explains no odor.
