Yesterday I delivered my new chrome mirrors to the paint shop and made final color and color scheme selections. They have stripped all the decals from the rig, removed all exterior hardware, and started the process of sanding the beast. They think they will have it done in another 2 - 3 weeks. It looks pretty strange at this stage:

SMLRANGER,

I have seen some of your pictures before of your rig, what was wrong that you had to have a makeover. I thought it looked pretty good. of course at my age, anything looks good....

Great pics. Maybe I missed an earlier post on this but are you having this done locally? What kind of paint are they using? Look forward to seeing the results. Good luck, I am sure it will look great.

Coach is 2002. While it looks fairly good from a distance, up close the unpainted part of the filon is starting to fade and has thousands of hairline cracks. The only way to stop the cracks is to sand, fill and paint it. We've decided to keep this coach and just do not want to see the exterior continue to deteriorate.

We're having it painted at Commercial Refinishers of Durham, NC. They use Dupont automotive finishes and offered to use either Imron 6000 or Dupont base coat with Chroma Premier clear coat. We selected the base coat/clear coat.

Your lucky that your having it painted in North Carolina with some good paint cause I have heard that here in good old California all that they use now for automotive paint is water based paint. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Update: Rather than make this a longer thread with many pics, I've started a Blog in the Blog section to document progress on the paint job.

Coach really looks strange as you say. I am surprised at the reflect-ability of the white with the decals removed and sanding work ongoing.
