Journey Rear TV

started to replace the bedroom TV in the journey. after removing it i found 2 sets of RCA cables, one set was connected to the rear of the TV along with the coax for the satelite/cable. then there was another set of RCA cables laying there that went up into the ceiling somewhere. I have never had an issue with reception on that TV in the past. any thoughts. i have attached a picture of the empty space after i pulled the unit put. i am working on the bracket this next week to mount the VIZIO 26 inch. will post fotos when completed.

A quick check of the wiring diagram for your unit makes me think that the other end is coiled up in the front entertainment area of your coach. You can check it out for yourself in the "Winnebago plumbing and electrical diagrams" section of this forum.

Just a word of advice, depending on how your are going to mount that bigger TV.

REMEMBER your wall slide comes REAL close to the face of that TV.

I replaced mine last year. I used a 24 in. TV. It was close.

After replacing the BR TV in my Ellipse I have a guess.

One set of RCA cables is probably to connect the DVD player... mine is next to the bed. This set of cables should send the audio and video from the DVD to the monitor. The second set might be to connect the TV sound to the DVD aux input so you can hear the TV sound through the DVD speakers. I didn't have two sets of cables but ended up wiring it this way when I replaced the 20" with a 32".

GUESS WHAT i found out last night. when i measured it i did not account for the 1 3/4 in deep bracket, which makes it about 1 inch too much when the slide moves in/out. we are going to try and redo the wall bracket i made first, if not i saw a nice 22 inch that will solve the problem if that does not work. but it sure does look nice up there.

bob, I replaced the rear tv last year with a 22" flat panel with dvd player. My space looks identical to yours sans the extra cables. You might consider installing the new tv by hanging it on the wall just to the right of the crt tv hole. I removed that panel and installed a 1''x8''x12'' board between the supports and reinstalled the panel. This gave me enough support to hang the new tv on the outside of the panel. I then took one of my kitchen cabinet doors that fit the hole properly and had our local cabinet maker fabricate two doors that would cover the hole. Installed a shelf and the new doors-presto-new tv and extra cabinet space. Took DW about 3 minutes to fill it up with clothes...whole project was about $100 including matching hardware from Lichtsinn motors.. Just a thought!!!

You might want to tilt your tv down a little. I know when I installed my TV in the bedroom, the picture had shadows, so I had to remove the TV and redo my mount so the TV would be at an angle, pointing downward,giving me a better picture.

i got so involved when we installed it, i forgot to take the work in progress pictures. we mounted a 1/2 plywood on the back side of the steel frame, then mounted the TV mount on the plywood. this gives it the depth you need to clear the slideout when it comes in.

Here are some pictures for my rear TV upgrade. I used plywood to make the mount attached to the TV and screwed it to wood braces on both sides. I use the extra space for storage below the TV. I found shelving at home depot that matched the wood to fill in the back and sides.
