I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer sometimes - recently I was looking through the owner's manual and discovered a neat feature of the compass and temperature display.

If you push and hold either button the display will come alive for 10 seconds. I have been known to turn on the ignition to check the temp reading - life just got a little easier.

If this is common knowledge, pardon me

That's because it was too simple. Chances are John was planning on creating a software program for a laptop interface to program the compass/temp unit and print out graphical results in an Excel speadsheet, complete with multicolor bar graphs displays - all ported over to the overhead TV display of course.

Speaking of manuals,I'm waist deep in them as I sort through the Freightliner stuff trying to change the date on the display.

Glad to see my new Winnie came with the new type display, sure is better on the ole eyeballs.

Hey John-I hadn't discovered that feature either. I always have to dig out the keys and have the step go in everytime I want to know outside temp. Its amazing what we are learning from the forms. Thanks.

Thanks for the info John. Keep it coming its helping me out. I read just enough to do what I want and then let the rest go. Its nice to know about these features...
Cruzer you have figured out how John thinks. Around these parts its been known as the NASA syndrome for years.
Bob, if you can find a qualified Nerd, they will decipher what the manual means for you.
Good Luck to all and John keep the tidbits coming.

Yep....you have to love that nerd power!

Between our resident "nerds" here and a nerd dealer over on the Datastorm forum,I'm looking at writing a BIG check.

John C., looks like after talking to Bill Adams and "oldtymr's posts "over there", I will go with the F1/D3/7000 in the coach.

Ummm....thanks John?

Update....Looks like a trip to Gaithersburg,MD is in the works....Guess I'll search a little harder for some campgrounds,as there weren't any reviews on rvparkreviews.com,nor was there anything listed in the TL directory.

Guess I'll post a request over in campgrounds...

Check my "inside" coach pics for the temp/compass "awakened" from the sleep mode...

Looks neat in pic as everything else is off.
