Keyless entry programming question - 05' Journey

I need to reprogram the keyless entry transmitter(s) because they need resetting anytime the batteries have been disconnected. According to the manual, I (or the dealer) needs to locate the keyless entry receiver module in order to reset the programming button.

The programming instructions are fairly straightforward, however the manual says that different coach manufacturers locate the device in different places.

Anyone have an idea on where this module may be located in our "new-to-us" Journey?

Thanks,
Joopy

In my 2005 Vectra it's in the left front compartment in front of the wheel, behind the hinged door with with automotive fuses and circuit breakers.

On my 2006 Journey it is located under the dash gauge cover that surrounds the guages, on the back - left side. It is a small black box, maybe four or five inches square with a decal on the top, mounted on the dash plate. It was simple to remove the dash gauge cover, just unscrew the five or six screws and lift off, there may be a speaker wire attached on the left side by the driver's window. Just be careful to cover up the defroster vents with a towel so that if a screw gets away when removing them, it does not go down into those vents.

It was interesting to look at all the stuff under there and while I had the cover off, I straightened up one of the air pressure gauges that was slightly off center.

Here is the link to the wiring diagram for a 2005 Journey 36G which shows the location of the module on page 5 of the .pdf:

You can also look up your model on the Winnebago website if not a 2005 Journey 36G under "resources" and then "manuals & diagrams" and then "wiring diagrams", then pick your year and model, etc..

If I were looking, I would remove the cowling cover on the back of the drivers side instrument panel ( a bunch of screws and then you take the entire cover off). The programming box is located just to the right of the rear-view screen as you look down on the cluster. It is black and has a paper seal over the button that must be pressed to reprogram the remotes. On yours (don't ask me how I know) the paper seal is already broken. You must have both remotes to do the job and you should read the directions in the bag of manuals for the remote keyless entry system to get the proper sequence to reprogram the units.

Been there and done that! Good luck! It is not a hard job but you need to be handy with a screw driver.

Thanks, Russ. I have a strange notion that you may be on to something! I think I'll try your suggested location first

Still sifting through the bag of manuals. I hope to get time tomorrow to check it out. I'll start by polishing up on my screwdriver skills

Good to hear from you, Russ.
Joopy

PS- thank you as well Clayton for taking the time to help me. Appreciate the reply. Actually, we bought our Journey from Russ which is why I replied the way I did. Don't know why I just didn't ask him first.....
