I removed my crank up Winegard dish this weekend and installed a Kingdome. The install went well but I have one issue that I would like to see if anyone has dealt with. When I removed the crank up dish I was not able to put the crank handle back in the hole and so now I have a hole in my roof. The new Kingdome is covering the hole from above but I am left with a hole on the inside. I told the DW that maybe we should hang a chandelier from the hole but this didn't seem to fit into her idea of redecorating.
Any ideas on how to cover the hole?

Just out of curiosity; why did you remove the antenna?

I recently asked the same question of someone who does a lot of installs. His answer was also to use a smoke alarm or a "dummy" speaker grill. My smoke alarm is mounted just aft of the crank and is only mounted with a couple of small screws. The carpet on the ceiling will easily cover those screw holes and I'll just remount it over the crank hole...planning to replace my old crankup in a few weeks.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I like the idea of moving the smoke alarm over to cover the hole.
As for why I changed from the crankup to the Kingcome... For five and a half years the thing worked great. Then I started having a problem with the crank up Winegard finding and locking on a signal. I had replaced the LNB, the level sensor and I was still having problems getting the thing to lock onto a satellite. I always wanted a dome anyway so I started looking on Ebay and found a brand new 9720 model for about half price. The install went pretty smoothly except for the hole in the ceiling issue.
Thanks again for all of the good suggestions.
