My step will not retract, even with engine on. I can hear a relay clicking by the step but it will not retract. We have a lot of snow coming today and need to get the step in. Is there a way to manually retract the step? I could not find a procedure for this.

Thanks
Mike

I had that happen.
When I crawled under it, I found the lever arm that actually moves the step broke. I thought it was going to be the sheer pin on the arm, but I was not that lucky.

I just had that happen to me after the step had been extended for a month. The relay was working so I took the magnet out of the door and kept putting that against the magnet in the frame each time listening for the relay to operate. After 30 or 40 clicks the step finally came in. It's been lubed regularly but still suck in the extended position.

To retract manually, you will have to disconnect the arm by pulling the cotter key and pin. Then you can retract and tie back. Here is a link to Kwikee documents

I have had that same problem a couple times. First time I lubricated it and it worked fine after that. About a year later I again had the same problem. I lubed it and that didnt work. I then crawled under the coach and looked at it. Everything looked ok. I used a small hammer an tapped the motor and it worked. The only problem I had was that when I tapped the motor, I was under the stairs and they extended. Luckly I had a milimeter or two to spare. The linc that John Hilley has shown will give you the details about your step and it also recommende the type of lube to use. I understand that WD40 is not recommended.
