Hello. I am new to the site. Able to find through a friend. I have a '04 Brave (32V) and recently discovered a puddle of hydraulic fluid on my garage floor. Upon further inspection, I located what seems to be the source. Underneath the dinette/couch slide there is a long cylinder marked with an HWH sticker that has hoselines at both ends. The cylinder is right along the framerail of the coach. It appears there is corrosion on the end of the cylinder that has caused the leak. After relaying this info to the dealer, I was told this is a normal occurence and probably needed to replace the hose. Anyone have a similar problem? If so, did replacing the hoselines fix it? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome!

You will most likely get more responses, but I recommend you call HWH tomorrow and discuss the situation with a tech. HWH has a great reputation for customer service and support and I can personally attest to that.

I seem to recall there was a problem a while back with a bad batch of HWH hoses - that might be your situation.

Welcome to IRV2 . As John suggested, call HWH. Every HWH hose has a number printed on the hose every 16" or so...you can give them that number and they will tell you if that particular hose is one they've had problems with. If so, they may send one no charge.

If you are mechanically inclined and can remove the hose yourself, you can get a new hose made up at most good auto parts stores...NAPA, etc. I did that for my rig and the hose made locally was, frankly, far superior to the original hose.

Good luck with a solution and please come back here often and share your RV experiences with us.

I had the same leak at the HWH slide out equalizing cylinder. In researching mine I found out that equipment malfunctions due to poorly made parts are the hallmark of HWH.

Find a hydraulics shop to rebuild the cylinder and fab the hoses. Either up front or in the long run you'll save money if you take Smlranger's advice and replace the HWH defective parts with good quality stuff.

Thanks for the advice. In contacting HWH, they are sending me new hoses as this seems to be the cause. I have just gone out of warranty as of a few months ago, but they were very helpful in fixing the situation. I was told by the tech that the bad hoses they had in the past were with the '02 models.
