Leather seats & Cats

When we bought our Meridian in October I asked about the leather seats. We would be traveling with two cats and 2 dogs. I was assured they the seats would be OK. Well.........wrong.
How (maybe we can't) do we get the little pin holes fixed?
If we have to replace both seats ($$$$)does anyone know if they make them in cloth?
I hate leather and told our salesman so. Like I said, he reassured me it would hold up.
I had the seats covered with throws, but while I was in the hospital, someone uncoved the seats.

Bradd and Hall sells captains chairs for motorhomes and I believe some are available in cloth. Camping World shows some cloth captains chairs in their catalog.

You might want to check with a local auto upholstery shop. They can probably recover your seats with your choice of many fabrics.

Check with a large auto dealer ,,they have folkes that repair leather. Make several calls to dealers till you find one and often times they do work at RV dealers also.
I had a tear repaired on the passenger seat and you can not tell it. We have two dogs and we have the dash covered in carpet and use the throws religously..

Just goes to show a salesman will say anything to make the sale and they have a short memories.

We just bought out Itasca Sunstar but also looked at a Damon Daybreak. The interior of the Damon was a lot nicer. Nice colors and fixtures and everything was leather. I asked the sales person if we could replace all of the leather with cloth.
She laughed and said she had never been asked that before. Having two teenage boys and one BIG yellow lab we went with the cloth. Maybe someday we will get leather

Not really a fan of leather either. We have a split sofa all in leather, each 1/2 electricaly can be positioned into a recliner.
The leather is so slippery you unavoidably slip down to an uncomfortable position. Its hard to keep a cover on it as it is so slippery. Wish we had cloth.
The previous owner also had a cat. Luckily there is only one small mark on it.

My hubby always says if the salesmans lips are moving he is lying. Guess it's true in regards to leather and cat claws.

Our Journey has leather. We removed the couches and replaced them with house type leather chairs (really leather) and they have done well with our kitty claws. Our captains chairs look pitiful all scratched etc. So the real difference I would guess is real leather versus ultra leather.

I do try to keep all the furniture covered but it's basically a lost cause.

I think that the cats would probably destroy the cloth seats also. We travel with a cat and she doesn't bother the leather. She likes to scratch the cloth now and then.

We have used these softpaws with success. They are really easy to put on the cat and do last for weeks. The last set we put on stayed on for 10 weeks. They come in several fashionable colors.

Our Ultraleather hasn't fared well at all with the cats. Apparently dogs with their blunt claws don't do much damage to Ultraleather, but cats certainly do.

We never liked our captain's chairs and the cats (one in particular) punctured the copilot chair, so last summer we bought two new chairs at Bradd and Hall.

The new chairs are cloth, made by Flexsteel, and far more comfortable than the originals.

I think the cloth is a little hotter than the Ultraleather and it is more difficult to 'scoot' your rear end around in the seat.

If we didn't have the cats, I think we would have stayed with Ultraleather, but the original chairs needed to go in any case.

We live in NY so I need to find someone a little closer to home.
Don't want to go through our dealer. That would break the bank.

John, while Bear has done no damage to the ultraleather chairs in our rig, we've both noted how much more comfortable the cloth captain's chairs in our old Adventurer were. I know that leather/ultraleather seems to be the current preference for most, but we actually like cloth (assuming it is sturdy material). When we traded the Adventurer it was 8 yrs old and had 93,000 miles, and those chairs looked new.

We have leather in our coach and a dear cat that has only rear claws, but she managed to scratch up our leather sofas, and chairs. We were in Tucson Arizona and found:

Mitch, the owner, came to our coach and repaired all the scratches to the point that you can't tell there was ever a scratch anywhere. It took him about 3 hours, and he charged us $180.00. If you are anywhere near Tucson, this is the guy you want.
