I'm at a campground and don't have hot water in my 2003 Journey DL 39WD. Before the internet went down at the campground I downloaded the pluming diagrams but can't locate the one check valve on the supply side.

I checked the hot side one behind the pluming panel, but it was altered by the PO and isn't checking anything. I confirmed that the cold supply to the tank is obstructed.

Anyone know how to get access to this valve?

OK found it. almost wish I hadn't. It doesn't look like this is going to get fixed today.

My next question is how to get the fittings. There is no room to work around the lines that go to the engine for the "heat assist". Can this be done without removing the water heater or at least taking it loose and moving it forward?

Any help would be appreciated.

Where is it? Is it in the wardrobe closet, in the rear, on the drivers side? Are your water lines PEX? A little more info would be good, diagrams don't show what is in your way to get to it.

The supply check valve is right behind the water heater in the water heater compartment. There is a panel on the bottom of the water heater compartment that can be removed. After removing the panel there is about a 2 inch gap between the back of the water heater and the back of the compartment. The lines going to the engine, for heating the water while driving, also share that space.

I was able to do a forum search and found a post about getting access to everything. The best suggestion was to acquire a strap wrench to loosen the fitting (1/4 turn at a time). Search for "hot water" and you will find it.

I have the check valves on order (Camco 23303) from Amazon. When the parts get here I plan to move the supply check valve to behind the plumbing panel on the drivers side, at the other end of the supply hose/pipe. No more laying on my back.

resguy: Way to go!! Thats common on many Winebago's.
When most MH are built, it's the ease of construction that matters. Repair/replacement is another story. Keep us posted.
Good Luck!
