We have enjoyed fulltiming in our Tour 40 TD for the last three years, but made the mistake of "just looking" at a 42AD Tour -- and WOW what a nice coach. I am wondering if anyone has some experience with one of the 42' Winnebagos and wanted to know what you liked and perhaps didn't like about it.

I was particularly wondering about the kind size bed -- have you found it comfortable? We have a Sleep number now which has been great and are not sure how the new mattress compares. I was also wondering about the Aqua Hot system (never had one) -- do you have to run Diesel at all times or is the electric element enough for normal showers (not heating the coach) in temperate conditions?

Many thanks!

The king bed is very comfortable.
The aqua hot is great item for heating & limitless hot water. The electric element is fine for hot showers and heating coach to about 50 degrees without using diesel.
I am satisfied after a year with my 42AD...everything other than what Winnebago built has worked great and Winni does try to get their stuff right during warrantee.

After 1 year I still have odd screws falling out and pieces of wood trim falling off here and there but I try to fix them myself as they appear.

I think the generator slides out in the 2011 but not the 2010. Good time to buy and not to sell. Never a good time to trade.
Maybe wait til the 2012 is out and then look at 2010 or 2011 when they are another year older. July isn't far off.

I just looked at Lichtsinn RV and they have a 2011 Tour AD with a listing of differences from 2010 to 2011.

One way of looking at it is the 2010 (while not as updated) has proven construction.

The 2011 has not yet proven itself through miles driven/passage of time.

Not being critical...I would take either in a heartbeat.

I know people that have both and they both are good units but I have to say I would buy the 2011 or 2012. They have better batteries, better inverter, etc.

You really have to look for those batteries don't you? I saw an Ellipse at Quartzsite and I had to ask where they were. I looked all over, or so I thought. They are in the middle and out of site.
I don't doubt that the 2011 is better than the 2010 and I can't wait to see the improvements made to the 2012 while at the GNR this year.

Currently at Camp Freightliner

Well, we took a close look at the 2010 42AD coach and were very impressed -- and bought it. We were amazed at the space and features of the coach. We are looking forward to picking it up and living in it! I'll post an update after we set it up.

Grats Rick

We've been living in ours for a year now.

btw a piece of molding fell off above the bed today on ours, the bed slide wouldnt retract today till I manually pulled up on the bed , and the gen failed to start charging the batteries/ supplying 110 power till I restarted it 3x.

Small probs aside I'm sure you will love it!!!
